Every holiday season we run a gift card promotion. It's a great deal for our clients, and it funds our biggest supply order of the year. Here's how it works, with my real numbers from last Black Friday.
Why I buy in November
Rent and insurance are fixed. Supplies are the one big cost I control, and the best prices of the year run all November.
What last year's order saved
| Regular price | Black Friday | Saved | Lasted | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hard wax132 lb | $1,674 | $1,116 | $558 | Most of the year |
| HydraFacial solutions7 boxes | $3,875 | $3,454 | $421 | 7 months |
Our two biggest orders alone saved $979. Nothing changed for our clients.
How to count what your chair needs
One chair or seven, the method is the same.
- List what each service uses. Trays, adhesive, primer, remover, tweezers.
- Pull last year's count. Your booking system has your full sets and fills.
- Multiply, then place one order during the sale.
Buy deeper on what keeps. Trays and tweezers hold up on the shelf. Adhesive doesn't, so buy it as you need it.
Where the money comes from
Our holiday gift card promotion. Clients get a great deal, and the money comes in before the services do, right when supplies are cheapest.
But it isn't extra. Every card comes back as an appointment with no payment attached, and honestly, it stings a little every time. So I spend it only on supplies we'd buy anyway and set the rest aside for the months those cards come back in. It's not a secret. It's discipline.

Questions owners ask
When should a lash artist buy supplies for the year?
November. Black Friday sales now run most of the month. Last year our wax was buy two, get one free.
How do I know how much to buy?
Multiply what one service uses by how many of that service you booked last year. Your booking system already has the count.
Should I spend gift card money right away?
Only on supplies you'd buy anyway. Every gift card comes back as an appointment with no payment attached, so set the rest aside for the months clients redeem them.
